Coronado Beach was a pretty complex book with so much going on. Tara Fields is a reporter (former investigative reporter) who is trying to move on with her life after a tragedy occurred which caused a turn of events from her becoming a different type of reporter, losing her marriage and trying to find herself through a slew of emotions. Alex Kent, her ex-husband, gave Tara the space that he thought she needed and moved away after their tragedy thinking it was the best thing for him to do and not fight for her or their marriage.
Alex is now back in town after a couple of years have passed. He left a high-paying job as an attorney to go back to his hometown where Tara is, and work as an attorney in an office that he now shares with Tara's sister. Tension is there from the get-go between him and Tara's sister, Karina.
As the story continues, both Alex and Tara know they still love each other, but Tara insists on pushing him away afraid that she will lose the person that she has found herself to be. Alex is still so in love with Tara that he can't find it in himself to move on until something starts to stir up between him and Karina. Karina is known to be a fixer and her luck with relationships is not the best. Alex finds comfort in Karina, and Karina sees Alex struggling with his love for Tara and companionship. This puts a strain on the relationships between Alex, Tara and Karina. This also forces Tara to look more into whether or not she's willing to lose Alex a second time.
There are strong parts to this story that are heart wrenching, some parts were enduring, and other times you just want to strangle these characters going around in a vicious cycle with none of them communicating what their exact thoughts are to each other. While I tried to put myself in the shoes of the characters, it was still almost stressful to even try to understand them. It also seemed like there were just too many stories going on at one time. The story almost felt like it dragged a little with all the back and forth and frustration going on.
After all the things that went on, you hope that things will end up happy for all struggling characters involved. By the end, I still wanted to knock some sense into Karina. The book had some good potential, and if you like a book with a LOT of frustration and angst, this is the perfect book to read.
I received this book from ARC for my honest opinion. I loved this book and couldn't put it down! Lots of plot twist and turns that made me want to keep reading to find out what happens next.
Tara is a journalist who was shot chasing a story. She looses her baby as a result and ends up in a coma fighting to live. When she wakes up her life is turned upside down. She is running from her emotions and divorces her husband Alex so she doesn't have to feel.
Alex is a wealthy lawyer who runs away to Washington after his wife divorces him. Trying to run from his emotions he finds this isn't what he wants and returns home to San Diego and the love of his life who is also his ex wife.
Karina is Tara's sister and a public defence lawyer. When he ex brother in law shows up as the new hire she doesn't know what to expect. She never really cared for the man... until she tries to fix him after his sister left him wounded. And sparks fly but they can't Tara is her sister and she's trying to get them back together.
Great read about an entire family and how and unexpected tragedy rips thru can destroy it all in the blink of an eye. Can they repair it? And have not too many bumps along the way?
Sometimes horrible things happen to good people, some say things happen for a reason yet some times they just dont make sense when there are innocents involved. Tara was a reporter when the unexpected happened and she was shot leaving her in a Coma and loosing her baby. Alex her husband thought that with her demands after this all happened would blow over, but when she asked for a divorce and distance he picked up and moved out of state, now back in San Diego Tara still doesnt want Alex yet when things start to form between Alex and Tara's sister, she realizes she can loose the only man that she loves and that is her soul mate unless she makes a decision if she wants him or not.
What I enjoyed most about Coronado Beach is watching family be there for each other, with good friends that will help but yes they will get you into trouble as well. Watching Alex want nothing more then get his Wife back but not knowing the way to go about it, watching a sister fall for her sisters ex even if it isnt love, but being eye opening for Tara that if it isnt her sister it will be another woman that will com along and get his attentions. Watching a family heal over the horrible loss of the baby, but learning to heal and realize that you need to appreciate life everyday, and life can be short and its not worth living it from the past, but the future.
This story was amazing, there are hard times, loss, love, learning to grow past the horrible things that they have lived through, def area's where trust comes in, A love story, a triangle love story between two sisters and a man who is one of their ex-husband, a story of everyone growing and learning what is most important and what they want the most, This story is really unique as you got many characters point of views, This story is a Happily Ever After but to which sister gets her ever after in this story is to be seen as I dont want to ruin the surprise. If you like stories like this, then Coronado Beach is a must!!
